Double Commander 0.6.4 has been recently released, bringing changes and fixes.
Double Commander is an cross-platform, open-source file manager, inspired by Total Commander.
Main features:

- Built in file viewer (F3) to view files of in hex, binary or text format

- Extended search function with full text search in any files
- Configurable button bar to start external programs or internal menu commands
- Total Commander WCX, WDX and WLX plug-ins support

The latest version available is Double Commander 0.6.4 Beta, which has been recently released, coming with the below changes:
- [File operations] Cannot open file with space, [ or ] characters in directory name
- [Graphical user interface] Invalid encoding in message dialogs
- [Viewer] Second image is not resized to fit windows
- [Graphical user interface] do not reset column-width after “Mark / Compare Directories”
- [File operations] Cannot change owner/group under root user
Installation instructions:
The latest Double Commander versions are available via some third party PPA, so installing it on Ubuntu should not cause too many problems. All you have to do is add the PPA to your system, update the local repository index and install the doublecmd-gtk or doublecmd-qt (depending on your DE) package:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:alexx2000/doublecmd
$ sudo apt-get update
For GTK based systems, do:
$ sudo apt-get install doublecmd-gtk
For Qt based systems, do:
$ sudo apt-get install doublecmd-qt
Optional, to remove doublecmd, do:
$ sudo apt-get remove doublecmd-*
The installation instructions should work on Ubuntu 15.10 Wily Werewolf, Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet, Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr and derivative systems like Linux Mint 17.2 Rafaela, Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Pinguy OS 14.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Deepin 2014, Peppermint 6, Peppermint 5, LXLE 14.04 and Linux Lite 2.
